The trail takes you under the cliffs of Table Mountain to a junction at one mile with the Ptarmigan Ridge Trail. Stay right and drop to Mazama Lake, which is the first of the Chain Lakes and has four campsites with a backcountry toilet. Iceberg and Hayes Lakes come next and both offer more campsites. Climb to Herman Saddle and drop to Bagley Lakes. Follow the Bagley Lakes Trail to Heather Meadows and find the Wild Goose Trail which climbs 1700 feet back to Artist Point.

  • Get there: Going east on Mount Baker Highway (542) at about 24 miles past the town of Glacier at Artist Point. The alternate trailhead is back down the highway 3 miles at Heather Meadows.
