Sauk Mountain

Rockport Area

Miles: 4 roundtrip

Elevation: 1,150 feet gained

Shortly leave the trees and switchback to a ridge top at one mile. Views are great here and you may be greeted by a resident marmot. Reach a junction with a trail down to Sauk Lake which sits at an elevation lower than your car on the opposite side of the mountain and offers a meadowy hillside backdrop. Continue left up to the summit to see an amazing view all around.

  • Get there: Take Highway 20 east from I-5 passing through Sedro-Woolley and turn right at milepost 96 onto Sauk Mountain Road. Follow eight miles to the trailhead and toilet at the roads end. There is an amazing view from the parking lot!
