Shannon Ridge

Baker Lake Area

Miles: 8.5 roundtrip

Elevation: 2,900 feet gained

Share this trail with summit baggers attempting Mount Shuksan. Take an old log road for the first 1.5 miles where it really starts to climb, staying in the forrest until reaching the ridge. Look at Mount Baker, Mount Shuksan, and down onto Baker Lake or choose to follow the open ridge up, eventually entering the North Cascades National Park. There are campsites on the ridge.

  • Get there: Take Highway 20 east from I-5 passing through Sedro-Woolley to the Baker Lake Highway just beyond milepost 82. At about 24 miles, turn left on FS rd 1152 and continue, turning right in three miles. The trailhead is at the end of this road about 1.5 miles up.
